ASSESSORS MEETING MINUTES

JUNE 25, 2009

7:00P.M.       Called meeting to order. Present: Paula Keefe, Ellen Abelson and

                                 Mark Mazur.

1.         The Board reviewed and then signed Fiscal Year 2010 Commitments

                        and Warrants for Preliminary Real Estate, Personal Property and C.P.A.

                        taxes.

2.         The Board reviewed and approved as amended a list of end of the year

                        items to be either purchased or encumbered.

3.         The Board discussed the concerns of an exemption applicant who doesn’t

                        understand why he can’t get more of his taxes exempted. Because exemption

                        amounts are fixed by State law the Board declined to meet with him and

                        recommended that he instead speak to the State Department of Revenue

                        for comfirmation.

 4.        The Board read a letter from an exempt organization that has some

                        taxable property, that they do not believe should be taxable. The Board

                        was not convinced by the information provided, that the property should

                        be changed to exempt. We will request a written opinion from the state

                        on this matter. The Board reviewed and approved as amended a letter

                        to the organization in question.
